Supporting those that serve
The Armed Forces plays a vital role in the Tesco brand story. In 1919, at the end of the First World War, Jack Cohen left the Royal Flying Corp and set up a market stall in London – using his demob money to buy his first day’s stock. That market stall has today grown to become an international business group employing more than 460,000 people.
That’s why we’re the Tesco Group is so committed to the Government’s Armed Forces Covenant. As a Gold Member, we’re here to make sure anyone with us from the armed forces community has all the same opportunities as any other member of our team.
We’re also proud to support any of our colleagues who are reservists – so we make sure they have the flexibility and paid leave they need to complete their training as part of the Armed Forces.
Armed Forces Network
Our Armed Forces Network is here to help veterans, reservists and partners of serving members of the Armed Forces. As well as offering career support and advice, the network is on hand if you’re leaving the forces to join our team – helping you understanding how your skills fit in the corporate world and how to make the transition into civilian life.
The network is also an active supporter of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association – the UK’s oldest tri-service military charity – helping provide support to the families and veterans of our armed forces.
